What trips people up
- CheckNothing to bring but your DNI: the requirements for adults are 'DNI tarjeta vigente.' and 'Pasaporte anterior: es recomendable pero no obligatorio.' No photograph is listed, and the whole procedure is '15 minutos Con turno'.
- CheckThe photo is a biometric taken at the counter: the DNI FAQ describes the 5-to-8-year update as being 'Para mantener al día la información biométrica (firma, foto y huellas).' The passport page itself does not spell this out (inference, flagged).
- CheckBook first: 'Presentate en la oficina elegida con la constancia de turno y el comprobante de pago.' Appointments come from the Mi Argentina app; payment is made beforehand.
- CheckMinors attend with a parent or legal representative and that adult's valid DNI; a notarised or judicial permission is needed if the parents are absent.
- CheckValidity is 10 years for adults and 5 years for under-18s; the booklet is mailed to your address at no extra cost and can be received by any adult living there with the constancia.

Quotes 1-3 are from the service page at source.url (sources/ar/argentina-servicio-tramitar-el-pasaporte.txt, read via r.jina.ai on 2026-10-09). Quote 4 is from the DNI FAQ (sources/ar/dni-preguntas-frecuentes.txt), quote 5 from the passport FAQ (sources/ar/pasaporte-preguntas-frecuentes.txt). Translation (ours): valid DNI card; previous passport recommended but not compulsory; come to the chosen office with the appointment confirmation and proof of payment; to keep the biometric information (signature, photo and fingerprints) up to date; both the passport and the DNI are issued exclusively by the Registro Nacional de las Personas. Quote 6 is ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 (sources/icao/, Wayback 2024-09-12) and supplies the reference head band; archiveSnapshot is that excerpt's date, source.url was read live. The 'no' verdict rests on the document list naming no photo (quotes 1-2), the in-person 15-minute appointment (quote 3) and Renaper calling the photo a biometric (quote 4); no page says 'we take your photo' in so many words (inference, flagged). physical 35 x 45 mm / 300 dpi, light-grey background, glasses 'discouraged' and headCovering are ICAO-style defaults for the reference frame. printsRequired, maxPhotoAgeMonths and child undefined. editing 'unaltered-required' is the conservative default for a document whose photo we cannot supply.
