Bahraini Passport Photo (portal upload; rule unread, ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements

The Bahraini Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches), or 413 x 531 pixels for online upload. Not read; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame (the portal's sample portrait is on a plain white background); head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Kingdom of Bahrain National Portal (iGA), Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs passport services 'Terms and Conditions', with ICAO Doc 9303.

For the photo attached to a Bahraini passport issuance, renewal or replacement request filed through the Kingdom of Bahrain national portal (eKey) with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, by Bahraini citizens and parents of newborns. The official photo requirements PDF could not be read, so the frame is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference. Not for a Bahrain e-visa, the identity card or a driving licence.

Read the NPRA photo requirements PDF linked from the portal before uploading; use this ICAO-shaped file only as a starting point and expect the portal to enforce its own limits. See all Bahrain documents.

What trips people up

  • Check
The real rule is in a PDF we could not open: the portal's terms page says only 'View the Passport Photo Requirements.' and links npra.gov.bh/content/files/epassport-photo-condition-en.pdf. npra.gov.bh refused every fetch and the Wayback Machine was offline when we tried, so every number here is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference, flagged as such.
  • Check
Portal services: 'Submit a request to renew your passport and/or your family members passports and pay the required fees (if any).' and 'Submit a request for the issuance of the first passport for the newborn child.' Both need a Standard eKey.
  • Check
The portal's sample is a head-and-shoulders portrait of a man in a white ghutra and black agal on a white background, so national headwear is evidently accepted; our headCovering value follows the sample, not a written rule.
  • Check
Terms page last updated 29 September 2025; check the NPRA PDF yourself before uploading.
  • Check
The digital 413 x 531 px JPEG here is our 300 dpi rendering of the ICAO frame; the portal's accepted pixel and file-size limits are in the unread PDF.
