Bhutan photo requirements

Bhutan photo requirements are set by Passport Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (mfa.gov.bt); visas via the Department of Immigration (immi.gov.bt). We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 visa. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 2 documents accept a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Bhutanese Passport Photo (MFA: 45 x 35 mm, face 70-80 %, white, national dress)For the photograph uploaded with an ordinary Bhutanese passport application on the G2C portal (citizenservices.gov.bt) or handed in as a print at the Passport Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade in an emergency - new issue, replacement after expiry, exhaustion of pages, loss or damage, adults and children. The same specification is quoted for diplomatic and official passports. Visas

Bhutan Visa / Permit Photo (Immigration Services Portal upload; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For the recent digital passport-size photograph uploaded with a tourist visa application (all nationalities other than India) or an Indian national's entry permit on the Department of Immigration's Bhutan Immigration Services Portal (immi.gov.bt), filed by the traveller or a tourism service provider. The portal publishes no size or format, so this page is the ICAO reference frame.
