Bolivian Passport Photo (no print listed by Migración; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Bolivian Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not published; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Dirección General de Migración del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia (DIGEMIG), 'Trámites para Bolivianos' > Pasaporte (content served by the site's /api/tramites/publico endpoint), with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.
For a Bolivian ordinary passport (libreta de pasaporte corriente) issued for the first time or renewed at a Dirección General de Migración departmental administration, by adults with their cédula and by minors with their parents. The authority's trámite data names no photograph and does not say who takes the picture, so this page is a reference frame, not a published format. Not for the cédula de identidad (SEGIP), a Bolivian visa (which has its own 4 x 4 cm rule) or a driving licence.
Check with the Dirección General de Migración office when you go: its published list names no photograph and does not say who takes the picture, so treat our 35 x 45 mm ICAO print as a fallback, not an official format. See the Bolivia documents we can prepare.

What trips people up
- CheckNo photo in the official list. 'Pasaporte por primera vez:' asks for the 'Cédula de Identidad física o digital' and the 'Certificado de sufragio en caso de haber estado presente en el país al momento de las elecciones' (voting certificate if you were in the country at election time); 'Renovación porque el pasaporte expiró:' adds the current passport. Nothing says whether the counter photographs you or wants a print, so ask the administración before paying for photos.
- CheckThe site's chat assistant does say 'Fotografía actualizada' in its generic 'Requisitos para el pasaporte:' answer, next to a birth certificate that the real trámite data does not ask for either; treat it as boilerplate and go by the official list above.
- CheckWhere and how much: 'Puedes realizar éste trámite en todas nuestras Administraciones Departamentales.' and 'Costo del trámite: Nuevo y Renovación' '200 Bs + 155 UFVs' (the UFV is Bolivia's inflation-indexed unit; the site shows the day's rate). The booklet is individual and valid for 6 years.
- CheckMinors: the only case the trámite data spells out is '1) Si realiza el trámite con ambos padres' - both parents bring their own and the child's valid cédulas for checking; other cases (one parent, guardian) are not described, so ask the office. Lost or stolen booklets are first reported at a Dirección General de Migración office.
- CheckThe data behind this page came from the site's public API because the web app renders only an empty 'Seleccione un trámite' dropdown without JavaScript; re-check at the counter.
- CheckEverything geometric here (35 x 45 mm, 70-80 % head, six months) is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference, flagged as such; Migración publishes no photo format.
