Chilean Passport Photo (ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference; no readable national rule): size and requirements

The Chilean Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not stated by any readable Chilean source; white is our rendering choice; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-09 against Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación (Chile), passport service page (unreadable on 2026-10-09), with ICAO Doc 9303.

For the Chilean passport issued by the Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación at its offices in Chile and by consulates abroad. The authority's pages could not be read (anti-bot challenge, see note), so this spec is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference frame only; confirm with the office before buying any photo. Not for the cédula de identidad or a Chilean visa.

Check with the Registro Civil or your consulate before buying: we could not read Chile's photo rule, so treat our 35 x 45 mm ICAO print as a best guess, not an official format. See all Chile documents.

What trips people up

  • Check
No national rule could be read. registrocivil.cl shows an image challenge to automated readers ('Por favor, resolver el desafío a continuación para poder acceder al sitio'), ChileAtiende blocks the proxy, and the Wayback Machine holds no copy. Everything in this spec is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference frame (35 x 45 mm, head 70 to 80 per cent, taken within six months), flagged as such.
  • Check
Ask before you print: Registro Civil offices in Chile are widely reported to photograph applicants at the counter, but we could not read that from an official page, so we do not assert it.
  • Check
Chileans abroad apply at a consulate; consulates publish their own instructions and may handle the photo differently from offices in Chile.
  • Check
If a Chilean office or consulate hands you a size or count, use theirs; our frame is a default, not an official format.
