For the digital photograph uploaded with any Colombian visa application (visitante type V, residente R and the other categories the Cancillería lists) filed on tramitesmre.cancilleria.gov.co and studied by the Cancillería's visa group or a consulate. Not for a Colombian passport, the cédula de extranjería or a short-stay entry that needs no visa.

What trips people up
- Check3:4 proportion, not 7:9: the Cancillería's image says 'Foto a escala 3x4, a color con fondo blanco'. A 35 x 45 mm file is the wrong shape; we render 450 x 600 px.
- CheckJPG under 300 KB: 'Fotografía: digital reciente, nítida de buena resolución, formato JPG, máximo 300 kb, a color y con fondo blanco'.
- CheckBlue background is allowed only for three groups: 'Personas sin cabello, con cabello blanco o religiosas que usen hábito claro. Únicamente en estos casos, se permite el fondo azul'. Everyone else must use white.

Good to know before you pay
If you already have a recent sharp colour JPG under 300 KB on white, cropped 3:4 with your whole head and both ears showing, it meets the published rule.

The crown-to-chin portion of the facial image shall be 70 to 80 per cent of the longest dimension defined for Zone V, maintaining the aspect ratio between the crown-to-chin and ear-to-ear details of the face of the holder.
