Croatia photo requirements

Croatia photo requirements are set by Ministarstvo unutarnjih poslova (Ministry of the Interior, MUP), police administrations and stations (mup.gov.hr). We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 ID card. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in). Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Croatian Passport Photo (35 x 45 mm, head up to 36 mm, light grey background)For the printed photograph handed in with a Croatian biometric passport (putovnica) application at a police administration or police station of the Ministry of the Interior, by Croatian citizens including children. Applications abroad go through Croatian diplomatic missions under the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and are not covered here. ID cards

Croatian ID Card (osobna iskaznica) Photo (35 x 45 mm, head up to 36 mm, light grey background)For the printed photograph handed in with a Croatian electronic identity card (osobna iskaznica) application at a police administration or police station, by Croatian citizens with residence in Croatia and by children of any age at the parents' request. The MUP sheet covers all e-documents, so the geometry is the passport's.
