For the driving licence the office reuses the image on file or photographs you at the counter. See the Czechia documents we can prepare.

What trips people up

  • Check
At the counter the application is printed from the driver register and 'Zároveň s tím je pořizován digitalizovaný podpis občana, případně i digitalizovaná fotografie, pokud nelze použít tu, která je dostupná z jiných agendových systémů.' Your passport or ID-card image is reused where possible; otherwise the officer photographs you.
  • Check
The electronic route on the Portál dopravy needs no photo from you either; it becomes available 90 days before the licence expires and still names an obecní úřad obce s rozšířenou působností as the issuing office.
  • Check
Any of the 206 municipal offices with extended powers can take the application, but the finished licence is collected only at the one where you applied (or at a chosen pick-up box or point).
  • Check
Handing in the old, expired licence is no longer compulsory.
