For the one personal photo uploaded with an online renewal of an ordinary Jordanian passport on eservices.cspd.gov.jo, through a Sanad account or the e-acceptance window at a CSPD office or embassy. The CSPD publishes ICAO 9303 example sheets but no frame size, so the geometry is the ICAO reference. Not for a first passport, the smart ID card or a Jordanian visa.

What trips people up
- CheckOnline renewal takes an uploaded photo: the document list says 'صورة شخصية عدد 1' (one personal photo) and step 6 is 'تحميل الصورة الشخصية' (upload the personal photo). No size, pixel or file limit is published; the frame here is the ICAO default.
- CheckThe CSPD's photo guidance is an ICAO 9303 example sheet ('مواصفات ICAO للصورة الشخصية'): eyes open and visible, head straight to the camera, prescription glasses only if they do not cover the pupils and no sunglasses or coloured lenses, head coverings for religious reasons only, neutral expression with mouth closed, one face and a plain single-colour background, even lighting, no red eyes.
- CheckWho can renew online: an activated account, a smart ID card for anyone 16 or over with an active fingerprint, and a passport that is expired, has fewer than 180 days left or is full of pages; parents renew for minors while married.
- CheckDelivery and payment: choose a CSPD office, an embassy or a courier (Jordan Post, 2.5 JD per delivery or collection); the courier takes a fingerprint on delivery. 'الزمن المستغرق لتقديم الخدمة ساعة الى 4 أيام عمل' (one hour to four working days).
- CheckFees run from 20 JD (full valid passport, armed forces) and 25 JD (under 16) to 50 JD (over 16, expired or under 180 days), 100 JD (passport still valid for more than 180 days, or applicants abroad), plus 25 piastres eFawateercom.
- CheckA first passport and the smart ID are issued in person; the CSPD FAQ lists 'التقاط الصورة الشخصية' (capturing the personal photo) as an office step for the ID card, so do not bring a print for those.
Known quirks of the official upload
- NoteThe service runs on eservices.cspd.gov.jo ('عبر حساب سند المفعل قريبا' - via an activated Sanad account, coming soon at the time of reading) or at the e-acceptance window in offices and embassies, where the clerk uploads for you.
Good to know before you pay
Any recent, plain-background head-and-shoulders JPEG that follows the ICAO example sheet will upload; the CSPD publishes no size to fail against.

Submitted portraits should be 45.0 mm x 35.0 mm (1.77 in x 1.38 in) in dimension.
The crown-to-chin portion of the facial image shall be 70 to 80 per cent of the longest dimension defined for Zone V, maintaining the aspect ratio between the crown-to-chin and ear-to-ear details of the face of the holder.
