For the Nepali electronic passport (साधारण विद्युतीय राहदानी) issued by the Department of Passports to citizens who pre-enrol online and attend a District Administration Office, the Department in Tripureshwor or a Nepali mission abroad, where the photo and biometrics are captured. No photo is brought or uploaded. Not for the National ID card or a Nepal visa.

What trips people up
- CheckYour photo is taken at the counter: the three registration steps are form check, fee payment and 'दर्ता गर्ने (फोटो खिच्ने र जैविक विवरण दिने)' - registering, which is taking the photo and giving biometric details.
- CheckNothing in the document list is a photo: the Nepal list is the barcoded form, citizenship certificate (or minor's ID with the parents' citizenship), current passport if any, National ID or its application proof, the fee voucher and case-specific extras.
- CheckPre-enrol online first at online.nepalpassport.gov.np or in the Nepal ePassport app, choose the Enrolment Centre and an appointment, then bring the printed barcoded form (a screenshot is not accepted: 'Screenshot होइन').
- CheckAbroad, the embassy or consulate is the Enrolment Centre and may deliver by post or in person.
- CheckRenewals and replacements go through the same enrolment, so the photo is retaken each time.

The crown-to-chin portion of the facial image shall be 70 to 80 per cent of the longest dimension defined for Zone V, maintaining the aspect ratio between the crown-to-chin and ear-to-ear details of the face of the holder.
