What trips people up

  • Check
The portal names one exact size: 'Original scan of a color picture with white background having specification 350/467 Pixels in JPEG/JPG format and not more than 3MB size.' We deliver exactly 350 x 467 px JPEG.
  • Check
White background only, in colour; PNG is not listed, only JPEG/JPG.
  • Check
DGIP publishes no head-height or eye-line rule for the upload, so we apply the ICAO 70 to 80 per cent crown-to-chin band on the 467 px height.
  • Check
The same photo line appears for every online category (newborn, reprint damaged, reprint exhausted, reprint lost, modification). For a newborn 'up to two (02) years of age only'; older children must go to the Foreign Mission.
  • Check
The portal also wants a scanned 'Finger Prints Performa' and your CNIC/NICOP scan; the photo is one upload among several, and the fee is 'not refundable / transferable'.
  • Check
Keep the file natural: the former NADRA guideline for the same 350 x 467 format demanded a photo 'that has not been altered in any way'; DGIP's page states only size, format, colour and background.

Known portal issues

  • Note

onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk refuses the connection (HTTP 403)

Read the photo requirement on the DGIP online-passport page before logging in. Read the fix
  • Note
The Online Passport Renewal facility is 'available for both Inland & Overseas Pakistanis' for passports that have expired or have less than a year of validity; the newborn and reprint categories are described for Overseas Pakistanis.

Good to know before you pay

If a studio already gave you a 350 x 467 px white-background JPEG under 3 MB, upload that; the portal states nothing about who takes the picture.

  • New Passport for newborn (up to two (02) years of age only)
  • Note: The online passport fee once paid is not refundable / transferable (from one person to another person).

Quotes 1-5 are from the DGIP Online Passport page at source.url (sources/pk/dgip-online-passport.txt, direct curl, tag-stripped; quotes 2-3 keep the page's space before the full stop; the photo line recurs with '350/ 467' spacing in one row). Quote 6 is ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 (sources/icao/, Wayback 2024-09-12) and supplies the head band, which DGIP does not publish (flagged in statedAs); archiveSnapshot 2024-09-12 is the Wayback date of that ICAO excerpt, not of a capture of source.url, which was read live. digital 350 x 467 is read as the exact size ('having specification 350/467 Pixels'), so min = max = target; maxKb 3072 from 'not more than 3MB'; format 'jpeg' from 'JPEG/JPG'. glasses, headCovering, neutralExpression and mouthClosed are ICAO-style defaults (DGIP states none for the upload). maxPhotoAgeMonths left undefined (not stated). printsRequired undefined (upload). child left undefined apart from the newborn category note in gotchas. The portal itself (onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk) is 403 to anonymous readers, so its in-form validation messages were not read.
