Palestinian Passport Photo (biometric passport, no published photo rule; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Palestinian Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not published; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against وزارة الداخلية - الإدارة العامة للجوازات والجنسية (Ministry of Interior, General Administration of Passports and Nationality), with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.
For a Palestinian passport (جواز سفر فلسطيني) issued by the General Administration of Passports and Nationality of the Ministry of Interior, or through the missions in Jordan, Egypt and Qatar that take biometric applications, as a reference only: the ministry says the passport is biometric and publishes no photograph size, count or statement of who takes the picture, so the frame, head band and other values are the ICAO Doc 9303 defaults. Not for the identity card or any travel document issued by another state.
Check with the passports office or a Palestinian mission before buying: the passport is biometric and no photo rule is published, so treat our 35 x 45 mm ICAO print as a best guess, not an official format. See all Palestine documents.

What trips people up
- CheckNo photo rule is published. The Ministry of Interior's passports page says only: 'تتولى الإدارة العامة للجوازات مسؤولية إصدار جوازات السفر الفلسطينية بأنواعها، بما في ذلك الجواز العادي والدبلوماسي وجوازات السفر بدل التالف وبدل الفاقد.' (the administration issues ordinary, diplomatic and replacement passports) and 'تم التحول إلى إصدار جواز السفر البيومتري' (it has moved to the biometric passport). Everything geometric here is the ICAO reference, flagged as such.
- CheckA biometric passport usually means the office captures your image at enrolment, but the page does not say so; ask the passports office or mission before paying for prints.
- CheckAbroad: 'حالياً، يتم استقبال طلبات الجواز البيومتري في الأردن ومصر وقطر' - biometric applications are currently taken at the missions in Jordan, Egypt and Qatar, with more planned. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says its missions receive passport issue and renewal applications 'حسب الأصول' (in the proper manner) and lists no documents.
- CheckThe ministry's e-services run on حكومتي (hukumati.ps) and its services guide on palestinecabinet.gov.ps; neither answered on 2026-10-10, so the official document list could not be read.
- CheckICAO reference frame: 'Submitted portraits should be 45.0 mm x 35.0 mm (1.77 in x 1.38 in) in dimension.' with the head 70 to 80 per cent of the height and a plain light background; 'A submitted portrait shall have been captured within the last six months before application'.
