The Polish ID Card Photo size is 700 x 900 pixels for online upload (minimum 492 x 633), file under 2.5 MB. Last verified 2026-10-07 against Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji (gov.pl).
For the colour photo file attached to the gov.pl online dowód osobisty application (adults who then visit the office for fingerprints, and children or wards under 12). Not for the counter application, which takes a 35 x 45 mm print, and not for the online child passport, whose minimum is 768 x 1004 px.

What trips people up
- CheckThe minimum is 492 x 633 pixels and 2.5 MB at most, in 35 x 45 mm proportions; the online passport for a child needs a larger 768 x 1004 px file, so do not reuse one file for both without checking.
- CheckSince 1 January 2026 the online dowód application runs only through e-Doręczenia, and an adult still has to visit the office within 30 days to give fingerprints and a signature or the application lapses.
- CheckIf the photo fails the MSWiA rules the clerk asks you to complete the application; a dark-glasses or head-covering certificate must be attached as an electronic document or scan.
- Checkgov.pl states the pixel minimum and proportion but no file format; we deliver JPEG and stay well below 2.5 MB.
