For the single colour print handed in at a punkt paszportowy or Polish consulate with a paszport application (adults, and children whose application is made at the counter). Not for the online child passport application, which takes a 768 x 1004 px file, and not for the dowód osobisty, which has its own online pixel rule.

What trips people up
- CheckThe background must be white, not merely light: 'białe, oświetlone jednolicie', with no shadows or decorative elements and a clear head outline (an over-exposed white background is refused too).
- CheckHead coverings are allowed only for religious reasons and you must attach a certificate of membership of a religious community registered in Poland; dark glasses need a disability certificate for a sight defect.
- CheckGlasses are fine if the eyes are clearly visible, the frames do not cover the eyebrows and there is no light reflected in the lenses; eyebrows must be uncovered in any case.
- CheckBeards and moustaches are allowed if they do not hinder recognition, but gov.pl advises shaving to avoid problems; the same 'to avoid problems' advice applies to jewellery.
- CheckThe hairstyle may extend beyond the edge of the photo and the ears do not have to be visible, which makes the 70 to 80 percent face rule easier to meet than it sounds.
