Qatari Passport Photo (2 prints with the paper form; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Qatari Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not stated; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Ministry of Interior (State of Qatar) via Hukoomi, 'Qatari Documents Service for Citizens (Passport - QID Card)', with ICAO Doc 9303.
For the two personal photos attached to a paper application for a new Qatari passport at the Nationality and Travel Documents Department of the Ministry of Interior, by Qatari citizens and their children. Hukoomi publishes no photo size, so the frame is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference. Not for the online smartcard route (no photo named), the QID, a visa or a residence permit.
Print two copies only if you are filing the paper form at the department; the online smartcard route lists no photo and first-time applicants over 12 are seen in person. See all Qatar documents.

What trips people up
- CheckTwo prints, paper route only: 'To issue a new passport, you should attach two personal photos, QID copy, and the birth certificate copy for those who don't have QID.' The online smartcard route ('Qatari Citizen Services' then 'Qatari Documents') lists no photo.
- CheckNo size is published: Hukoomi says 'personal photos' and nothing more, so 35 x 45 mm, white background and head 70 to 80 per cent here are the ICAO Doc 9303 reference, flagged as such. Ask the department before printing a stack.
- CheckFirst-time applicants attend: 'The applicant should come in person if he/she is 12 years old or more (for the first time).' Expect to be photographed or fingerprinted there; the page does not say.
- CheckChildren: a new passport for a child needs both parents' QID copies, the birth certificate and the marriage contract.
- CheckFees: 'New or Renewed Passport : QR100', 'Replacement for Lost/Damaged Passport: QR400'.
- CheckThe service also runs on the Metrash app; 'The user shall own a smart card to use the service.'
