Somalia photo requirements

Somalia photo requirements are set by Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA, immigration.gov.so), Federal Government of Somalia; eTAS e-Visa portal etas.gov.so. We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 visa. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 1 document accepts a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Somali Passport Photo (ICA: two recent passport photographs; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For a Somali biometric e-passport issued by the Immigration and Citizenship Agency (first issue, renewal or replacement), whose published requirements are a national ID or citizenship certificate, 'Two recent passport photographs', the form and the fee - a count with no size, background or head rule, so the frame, head band and background here are the ICAO Doc 9303 reference. Not for the Somali eTAS visa, which takes an uploaded selfie or photo (separate page here).35 x 45 mmnot publishedverified 2026-10-10

Visas

Somalia eTAS e-Visa Photo (etas.gov.so upload: selfie or passport-type photo)For the photo uploaded with a Somali Electronic Travel Authorisation System (eTAS / e-Visa) application on etas.gov.so, mandatory for all foreign nationals since 1 September 2025: the portal asks for a 'Selfie or passport-type photo' at its 'Selfie/Passport Size Photo' step with no size, background or file rule, so the frame and head band here are the ICAO reference and the pixel size is ours. Not for a Somali passport (two prints) and not for the diplomatic / laissez-passer route, which uploads a Note Verbale instead.35 x 45 mmnot publishedverified 2026-10-10
