What trips people up
- CheckSweden measures pupil to chin, not chin to crown: 14 to 17 mm on the 35 x 45 mm print. We report that distance so you can check it with a ruler, and the head band above is only our translation of it.
- CheckThe print must be cut cleanly to exactly 35 mm by 45 mm with round or sharp corners and glued to the grundhandling; one copy, no older than 'välliknande' (a good likeness), since no month limit is published.
- CheckBlack-and-white prints are accepted and the licence reproduces the photo in black and white anyway, so a colour print gains nothing but is fine.
- CheckNo head covering 'eller liknande' and no dark or tinted glasses, with case-by-case exceptions only if you contact Transportstyrelsen before sending the form; reflections in glasses are refused and the focus must be on the pupils.
- CheckThe whole head must be visible, not just the face, against a light background without shadows and with even lighting on the face.
Good to know before you pay
If you prefer, Trafikverket's selected förarprovskontor photograph you and take your signature digitally for a fee; then you need no print at all.

Quotes are in Swedish, all from Transportstyrelsen's page 'Fotot på körkortet' (Senast uppdaterad 2026-07-21) at source.url, read directly (sources/se/transportstyrelsen-fotot-pa-korkortet.txt); the parent page 'Förnya körkortet' (sources/se/transportstyrelsen-fornya-korkortet.txt) confirms the two routes (print on the grundhandling or digital capture at a Trafikverket förarprovskontor). The only published measurement is pupil-to-chin 14-17 mm; head.headHeightMin/Max 0.62-0.76 is our derivation assuming the pupils sit at about half the chin-to-crown height, and is flagged in head.statedAs. No maximum photo age is published ('välliknande' only), so maxPhotoAgeMonths is left undefined. headCovering 'not-allowed' because the page bans any huvudbonad; it adds that exceptions may be allowed in some cases on request. transportstyrelsen.se is official but not matched by the validator host rule; see the file header.
