For the facial photo uploaded with an electronic visa application on e-visa.gov.uz by foreign citizens whose country is on Uzbekistan's simplified-visa list. What trips people up
- CheckThe portal's only photo rule is a pointer to ICAO: 'The uploaded face image must comply with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization's DOC9303.' Our frame (35 x 45 mm proportion, head 70 to 80 per cent, six months) is that standard, so here the ICAO default IS the published rule.
- CheckThe photo is uploaded in the 'Photo and passport' step: 'In the section «Photo and passport», applicants need to upload facial photo and a copy of the travel document main data page;' The portal shows a sample image there.
- CheckA file-size limit is published only for the passport scan ('the file size is not more than 500 Kb'); none is published for the photo.
- CheckFee: 'a consular fee of $ 20 is collected via integrated into the portal international payment systems', paid by Visa card; it is not refundable.
- CheckEnter your details in English exactly as in the travel document you will enter with; dual nationals must pick the passport they will travel on.
- CheckIf your country is visa-free the portal stops the application before payment; if it is not on the simplified list you are sent to an Uzbek embassy.
Known quirks of the official upload
- NoteThe portal runs in English, Uzbek and Russian; activation is by an emailed code and the e-visa arrives as a PDF by email. Print it or keep it on your phone: the visa must be shown 'in printed or electronic form'.
Good to know before you pay
Any ICAO-style passport photo file you already have (plain background, head 70 to 80 per cent, recent) satisfies the portal's one rule.
