What trips people up
- CheckThe size is 4 x 6 cm, not the 35 x 45 mm most tools default to: '02 ảnh mới chụp không quá 06 tháng, cỡ 4cm x6cm'. A 35 x 45 print will be refused for size alone.
- CheckNo glasses at all ('không đeo kính'), bare head ('đầu để trần') and both ears clearly visible ('rõ hai tai'): tuck hair behind the ears and remove spectacles before shooting.
- CheckFace the camera straight on, in 'trang phục lịch sự' (polite dress) against a white background; the record states no head-height figure, so we apply the ICAO 70 to 80 per cent crown-to-chin band.
- CheckTwo prints are required and the photo must be no more than six months old on the filing date.
- CheckYou may pre-fill form TK01 and file through the National Public Service Portal or the Ministry portal, but documents filed online must be electronically certified; otherwise they go by public postal service to the receiving office. Results are issued within 5 working days at the Immigration Department (3 for the urgent cases in Article 15(4)).
- CheckAt collection you show your Chứng minh nhân dân or Thẻ căn cước công dân; a child under 14 needs a copy of the birth certificate and the legal representative signs the form.
Known quirks of the official upload
- NoteCổng dịch vụ công quốc gia / Cổng dịch vụ công Bộ Công an: online filing is accepted only with electronically certified documents; paper copies otherwise go by public postal service.
Good to know before you pay
If a photo shop printed two 4 x 6 cm white-background photos within the last six months with no glasses and both ears showing, hand those in.

Quotes 1-5 are Vietnamese, from the procedure record at source.url, read directly via the text proxy (sources/vn/dvc-bca-cap-ho-chieu-pho-thong-trung-uong.txt; quote 1 keeps the page's spacing '4cm x6cm'). Quote 6 is ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 (sources/icao/, Wayback 2024-09-12) and supplies the head band, which the record does not state (flagged in statedAs). physical 40 x 60 mm from 'cỡ 4cm x6cm'; dpi 300 is our rendering choice. maxPhotoAgeMonths 6 from 'không quá 06 tháng'; printsRequired 2 from '02 ảnh'. glasses 'not-allowed' from 'không đeo kính'; headCovering 'not-allowed' from 'đầu để trần' (the record states no religious exception). neutralExpression and mouthClosed are ICAO-style defaults; the record says only 'mặt nhìn thẳng'. editing 'background-replacement-ok': no retouching rule is published. child is left undefined (no child photo rule published). The saved record is identified by 'Mã thủ tục 1.001471' and 'Cơ quan thực hiện Cục quản lý xuất nhập cảnh'; its page title is the portal's generic 'CỔNG DỊCH VỤ CÔNG TRỰC TUYẾN', so the procedure name in authority is our label for the record, not a string on the saved page. The record covers applicants 'từ lần thứ hai trở đi' or first-time applicants under 'khoản 4 Điều 15', filed at the Department's Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City offices; the provincial-level procedure (matt=29497) was not saved, so scope does not claim the provincial police route and the photo rule is quoted from the central-level record only.
