What trips people up
- CheckThe citizen portal lists the photo as 'Lichtbild, das nicht älter als ein halbes Jahr sein darf (Größe: 45 x 35 mm)': the same 35 x 45 mm portrait as the passport, written height first.
- CheckColour is mandatory: the BMI names the Aufenthaltstitel alongside the passport and ID card in its black-and-white ban.
- CheckHead about two thirds of the frame, 36 mm maximum, eyes at least 8 mm apart, plain light grey background: the BMI criteria apply to every Austrian identity document.
- CheckThe photo is handed in with the application file. For a child under six months old without a travel document the passport requirement is waived, the photo is not.

Quotes are in German. Quotes 1-2 from the oesterreich.gv.at page 'Allgemeine Voraussetzungen für die Erteilung von Aufenthaltstiteln' at source.url, read via the r.jina.ai text proxy (sources/at/oesterreich-gv-aufenthaltstitel-voraussetzungen.txt). Quotes 3-5 and all geometry from the BMI 'Passbild-Kriterien' page (sources/at/bmi-passbild-kriterien.txt), which names the Aufenthaltstitel in its colour rule; the portal page itself links no criteria, so applying the BMI geometry to the residence title is our inference from that sentence. Quote 6 is the photo line of the Aufenthaltskarte page for EU citizens' family members, https://www.oesterreich.gv.at/de/themen/menschen_aus_anderen_staaten/aufenthalt/1/Seite.120830 (r.jina.ai text proxy; sources/at/oesterreich-gv-aufenthaltskarte-eu-familienangehoerige.txt), cited in scope only; that document is not authored. Neither saved Aufenthaltstitel page mentions fingerprints or a signature, so no claim is made about them. dpi 600 is our rendering choice.
