Cyprus Passport Photo (photographed at the service point; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Cyprus Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not stated; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Republic of Cyprus, Ministry of Interior, Civil Registry and Migration Department, 'Apply for a passport' on gov.cy, with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.
For a Republic of Cyprus passport (διαβατήριο) applied for on gov.cy and completed at a Civil Registry and Migration Department service point, by Cypriot citizens and their minor children. The service page says the office takes your fingerprints and photo, so this page is a reference frame only, not a print you can hand in. Not for the identity card, a Cyprus visa or a driving licence.
Apply and pay on gov.cy, then attend a Civil Registry and Migration Department service point where your fingerprints and photo are taken. See all Cyprus documents.

What trips people up
- CheckThe office photographs you: after applying and paying online the page says you then go to a service point 'for fingerprints and a photo. When the passport is ready, we’ll let you know so you can go pick it up.' No print or upload is asked for.
- CheckThe same online service covers eight cases, from 'Issuance or renewal of a passport for yourself' to 'Issuance or renewal of a passport for your minor children' and the loss, damage and fast-track variants; all end at the service point's camera.
- CheckFees on the page: 'adult: €70', 'under 18: €45', 'fast track: €50 extra', and 'if the passport is lost, the amount doubles each time it is lost'.
- CheckService points open 'Monday to Friday, 7:30 - 14:00'; the application-submission offices are listed on the Ministry of Interior's documents page linked from the service.
- CheckEverything geometric here is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference ('Submitted portraits should be 45.0 mm x 35.0 mm (1.77 in x 1.38 in) in dimension.'), flagged as such; gov.cy publishes no photo size because the office's camera sets it.
- CheckThe old CRMD site (moi.gov.cy/moi/crmd/crmd.nsf) returns 404 for every page we tried on 2026-10-10; the passport information now lives on gov.cy, and the online service itself sits at citizen-documents.service.gov.cy.

Quotes 1-8 are from source.url (sources/cy/govcy-issue-a-passport-en.txt, read live via r.jina.ai on 2026-10-10; the page's sentence reads 'You’ll then need to go to a[service point](…) for fingerprints and a photo.' with a markdown link in the middle, so quote 1 starts after the link). Quotes 9-10 are ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 (sources/icao/icao-9303-part3-portrait-excerpt.txt, Wayback capture 2024-09-12). gov.cy publishes no photo geometry; physical 35 x 45 mm, head 0.7-0.8, maxPhotoAgeMonths 6, background 'white', dpi 300, glasses and headCovering are ICAO-style defaults for the reference frame.
