Ecuador photo requirements

Ecuador photo requirements are set by Dirección General de Registro Civil, Identificación y Cedulación (DIGERCIC, registrocivil.gob.ec). We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 visa. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 1 document accepts a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Ecuadorian Passport Photo (taken at the Registro Civil agency; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For an Ecuadorian ordinary electronic passport issued for the first time or renewed in person at a Registro Civil agency by adults over 18 (the under-18 sheet follows the same procedure with the parents). The agency captures the photograph with the fingerprints and signature and publishes no photo format, so this page is a reference frame. Not for the cédula, an Ecuadorian visa (which is filed online with its own photo rule) or a driving licence.35 x 45 mmnot publishedverified 2026-10-10

Visas
