Haitian National ID Card (CIN) Photo via a mission (one white-background print; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Haitian National ID Card size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Fond blanc (white background); head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Ambassade de la République d'Haïti aux États-Unis d'Amérique (Ministère des Affaires Étrangères et des Cultes), 'Nos services consulaires', with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.
For the recent identity photograph handed in when a Haitian abroad applies for or renews the Carte d'Identification Nationale (CIN) through a Haitian embassy or consulate, which forwards the file to Haiti. The embassy publishes only the count and the white background, so the frame is the ICAO reference. Not for the Haitian passport (two photos) nor for CIN applications filed directly inside Haiti.

What trips people up
- CheckThe embassy's CIN list: the original Haitian birth certificate, 'Photo d'identité récente (fond blanc)', the completed form, a valid or expired Haitian passport, proof of residence and the processing fee. One photo, white background, no size published.
- CheckThe CIN itself is produced in Haiti: 'La Carte d'Identification Nationale (CIN) est le document d'identité officiel haïtien. Le consulat facilite les démarches d'obtention et de renouvellement pour la diaspora.' - processing time 'Variable selon les délais du traitement en Haïti'.
- CheckInside Haiti the card is applied for at the domestic issuing office; no Haitian government host answered during our fetch, so whether that office captures the image at the counter or wants a print is not known from an official page.
- CheckEverything geometric here (35 x 45 mm, 70-80 % head, six months) is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference, flagged as such.
