What trips people up

  • Check
The portrait is a 2:3 file, not a 35 x 45 print: 'Min. 400×600px.' and 'Max. size 2Mb', in 'File format using *.JPEG/ .JPG/ .PNG in color.'
  • Check
The head is small by passport standards: 50 to 60 per cent of the image height, with the eyes 50 to 60 per cent up from the bottom. The sheet rejects a tight head-only crop as 'Too close'.
  • Check
A photo up to a year old is accepted: the visa pages ask for 'pasfoto berwarna terbaru (setahun terakhir)' (a recent colour photo from the last year).
  • Check
Indonesia's sheet shows its accepted example on a RED background (the Indonesian pas foto convention) and publishes no background colour rule at all; we deliver white, which is our rendering choice, not a stated requirement.
  • Check
Rejected examples are 'Blurry photo', 'Others than face photo' and 'Expression face photo' (smiling or frowning): keep a neutral face.
  • Check
The whole application is online: 'Orang asing harus memiliki akun di evisa.imigrasi.go.id sebelum mengajukan visa.' Tourists (C1) usually need no sponsor; the file is uploaded by the applicant or the sponsor.

Known portal issues

  • Note

Portal refuses access without an account (HTTP 403)

Create the account first, then read the 'Syarat Foto' sheet on imigrasi.go.id for the photo rule. Read the fix

Good to know before you pay

If you already have a colour JPG/PNG of at least 400 x 600 px, under 2 MB, taken within the last year with your head at about half the frame height, upload that.

Quotes 1-7 are from the 'Syarat Foto' PDF at source.url, a one-page image-only PDF (English text) whose embedded JPEG was extracted and TRANSCRIBED BY HAND on 2026-10-08 (sources/id/imigrasi-syarat-foto-pdf-transcription.txt); the sheet is linked as 'detail format file' from every visa detail page. Quotes 8-9 are Indonesian, from the C1 Visa Wisata page https://www.imigrasi.go.id/wna/permohonan-visa-republik-indonesia/c1-visa-wisata (sources/id/imigrasi-c1-visa-wisata.txt; its content is embedded in the page as a JS variable). maxPhotoAgeMonths 12 from 'setahun terakhir'. No maximum pixel size is published, so the 800 x 1200 target is our 2:3 rendering choice above the 400 x 600 minimum. The 50-60 % head and eye-line values are taken from the sheet's legible body text, not from its diagram labels, which the transcription records as tiny and partly illegible. Background: the sheet states no colour; the transcription records only one accepted example (plain red background) and no white example; 'white' is our rendering choice (flagged in backgroundStatedAs). glasses, headCovering, neutralExpression and mouthClosed: the sheet rejects only 'Expression face photo' and shows no glasses or head-covering rule; those fields are ICAO-style defaults. The E23 work visa page was fetched but returned the site shell and was not saved. child left undefined.
