- CheckThe frame is 2:3, not 35x45: 'Be sized in 400(minimum-width) x 600(minimum-height) pixels', 'In a rectangular aspect ratio (height must be greater than width)'. No maximum is published; we render 600 x 900 px.

- CheckNo eyeglasses: 'Eyeglasses are not allowed in visa photos, except in rare circumstances when eyeglasses cannot be removed for medical reasons' with a signed medical statement.

Known quirks of the official upload
- NoteUse the portal's 'Photo Tool' (request/image_tools) to test the file before submitting; 'Your Image requirements' is listed among the common errors that stall applications.
- NoteFinish email verification within 3 days or the application expires; processing takes up to 10 business days and some applicants are called to an interview.
Good to know before you pay
If a studio gave you a colour JPEG at least 400 x 600 px, between 10 and 500 kB, white or off-white background, no glasses, with your face filling 70 to 80 per cent, upload that; the portal's own 'Photo Tool' checks it.
