Iran photo requirements

Iran photo requirements are set by Iranian Police passport and immigration department (پلیس مهاجرت و گذرنامه); Ministry of Foreign Affairs for e-visas. We publish 2 documents: 1 visa and 1 passport. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 1 document accepts a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-09).

Passports

Iranian Passport Photo (ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference; no readable national rule)For the Iranian passport (گذرنامه) issued by the Iranian Police immigration and passport department inside Iran, or by Iranian missions abroad. No national photo rule could be read, so this spec is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference frame only. Iran e-Visa Photo (evisatraveller.mfa.ir upload, 400 x 600 px minimum, 10-500 kB JPEG)For the digital personal photo uploaded with an Iranian non-immigrant visa application on the MFA e-Visa portal (entry, tourist, pilgrimage, work, treatment, press, student, family and investment visas), which is then collected at the chosen embassy, consulate or airport.
