Laos photo requirements

Laos photo requirements are set by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR (mofa.gov.la); eVisa via the Consular Department (laoevisa.gov.la). We publish 2 documents: 1 visa and 1 passport. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 1 document accepts a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Lao Passport Photo (no readable national rule; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For a Lao PDR ordinary passport (ໜັງສືຜ່ານແດນທົ່ວໄປ) applied for through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a reference only: the ministry's passport page offers downloadable forms whose text could not be read, and no Lao page states a photo size, count or who takes the picture, so the frame, head band and other values are the ICAO Doc 9303 defaults. Visas

Laos eVisa Photo (laoevisa.gov.la: 4 x 6 cm, white background, 6 months)For the photograph uploaded with a Lao tourist eVisa application on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal laoevisa.gov.la, used at the nine designated eVisa ports (Wattay, Luang Prabang and Pakse airports, Friendship Bridges I, II and IV, Boten checkpoint and the Boten and Khamsavath railway stations). The portal publishes the size, colour, age and background but no head measurement, so the head band here is the ICAO reference.
