For the Mexican pasaporte ordinario issued by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores at an Oficina de Pasaportes in Mexico or a consulate abroad, where the applicant appears by appointment and the document is produced the same day, so no photograph is handed in. Not for a Mexican visa, the INE voter card or an INM residence card, whose photo rules we could not read.

What trips people up
- CheckThe SRE requirements list has no photo. For a first passport you bring proof of nationality and 'una identificación oficial vigente en original, como credencial para votar del INE, matrícula consular, entre otras.' For a renewal, 'el pasaporte original a renovar'.
- CheckThe passport is issued on the spot: 'La entrega del documento es el mismo día de su cita, una vez que haya cumplido con los requisitos y realizado el pago de derechos correspondiente.' The image in it is taken at the counter.
- CheckOne appointment per person: 'Deberá realizar una cita por cada una de las personas interesadas en el trámite.' Minors need the OP-7 consent of the person or persons holding parental authority or guardianship ('la o las personas que ejerzan la patria potestad o tutela'), given in person at an Oficina de Pasaportes or consulate.
- CheckFees from 1 January 2026 run from $920 MXN (1 year, children under 3) to $4,280 MXN (10 years); a 50 % discount applies to people over 60, people with a disability and agricultural workers (Canada programme), with two footnotes: the disability must be proven ('La discapacidad deberá comprobarse') and the 10-year discount 'no aplica para trabajadores agrícolas'.
- CheckThe gob.mx page does not say in words 'no traiga fotografías'; our 'no' verdict rests on the absence of a photograph from every requirement list and on same-day issuance (inference, flagged).

Acreditar la nacionalidad mexicana.
