Moldovan Passport Photo (captured at the ASP counter; 10 x 15 cm print only for the bedridden; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements
The Moldovan Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Pe fond alb (white background) is stated only for the 10 x 15 cm print handed in for an immobilised applicant; white is also our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Agenția Servicii Publice a Republicii Moldova, 'Eliberarea pașaportului' (service 155), with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.
For a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Moldova applied for at an Agenția Servicii Publice identity-document service or multifunctional centre, for adults and children. The agency captures the facial image at the counter and lists a print (10 x 15 cm, colour, matte, white background) only for applicants who are immobilised or gravely ill in a medical institution, so this page is a reference frame. Not for the identity card, a Moldovan e-visa or a driving licence.
Book the ASP visit and let the counter capture your image. If you are applying for someone who is bedridden, have a recent 10 x 15 cm colour matte photo on a white background printed by a studio. See the Moldova documents we can prepare.

What trips people up
- CheckNo photo in the ordinary list: for an adult the page asks for the identity card, invalid passports or a loss declaration, civil-status documents, a foreign passport if dual national, and (where relevant) a disability or medical certificate; the facial image is captured when you file.
- CheckThe one print the agency names is for people who cannot come: for a person 'imobilizate şi/sau aflate în stare gravă într-o instituție medicală (inconștientă, în comă)' the representative brings 'o fotografie de dată recentă, de dimensiunea 10×15 cm color, mat, pe fond alb;' plus a medical certificate and proof of authority.
- CheckFallback image: where the face cannot be captured 'pe motiv că acesta are leziuni sau traumatisme faciale grave sau pe fața acestuia este aplicat pansament' and no recent photo can be supplied, the agency reuses the facial image already held in the State Population Register from the last identity document.
- CheckChildren must attend: 'Cererea pentru eliberarea pașaportului pentru copil se depune de către reprezentantul legal al acestuia (unul dintre părinți, tutorele, curatorul), cu prezența obligatorie a copilului.' The page then lists five parental-consent scenarios (married, divorced, unmarried, minor parents, guardians).
- CheckTwo passports: 'Cetățenii Republicii Moldova au dreptul să dețină concomitent două pașapoarte valabile cu condiția că datele cu caracter personal ale titularului conținute în acestea să fie identice.' (from the agency's identity-documents FAQ).
- CheckEverything geometric here (35 x 45 mm, 70-80 % head, six months) is the ICAO Doc 9303 reference, flagged as such; the agency publishes no passport-photo geometry because its camera sets it.

Quotes 1-4 are from source.url (sources/md/asp-pasaport-155-ro.txt, read live via r.jina.ai on 2026-10-10; quote 2 is the opening clause of a longer sentence and quote 3 its close; the page's bullets are dropped). The two-passports sentence in gotchas[4] is from the agency's identity-documents FAQ https://www.asp.gov.md/ro/servicii/persoane-fizice/acte-identitate (sources/md/asp-acte-identitate-faq-ro.txt, same day). Quotes 5-6 are ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 (sources/icao/icao-9303-part3-portrait-excerpt.txt, Wayback capture 2024-09-12). The agency publishes no passport-photo geometry; physical 35 x 45 mm, head 0.7-0.8, maxPhotoAgeMonths 6, dpi 300, glasses and headCovering are ICAO-style defaults for the reference frame; background 'white' follows the 'pe fond alb' of the bedridden-applicant print.
