What trips people up
- CheckTwo background lists coexist: the document list accepts 'fond bleu, blanc ou gris clairs' (light blue, white or light grey) while the 2009 norms PDF names 'bleu ciel ou gris clair' only. A plain light grey or sky-blue satisfies both; white satisfies the current document list.
- CheckExactly one photo per application: every category on the 'Pièces à fournir' page lists 'Une photographie d'identité récente, sur fond bleu, blanc ou gris clairs de format 35mm x 45mm'. The portal gives no head size, eye line or photo age beyond 'récente'.
- CheckColour is required and the print must be clean: 'La photographie doit être en couleurs, bien exposée et correctement contrastée, sans marques de flash, ni yeux rouges, ni ombres sur le visage.' and 'parfaitement nette, sans tâches, ni marques d'encre'.
- CheckNeutral face, mouth closed: 'Le visage doit être dégagé et avoir une expression neutre (bouche fermée, sans sourire, les yeux normalement ouverts et clairement visibles).'
- CheckGlasses optional but clear: 'Seuls les verres blancs sont admis.' Tinted lenses or thick frames must be removed, no reflections, frames must not cover the eyes even partly.
- CheckNo decorative headwear: 'Les couvre-chefs décoratifs, tels que chapeaux, casquettes ou autres ne sont pas autorisés.' The whole face from chin to top of forehead must be visible; the PDF does not spell out a religious exception, only the visibility rule.

Good to know before you pay
If a photo studio already printed you a recent colour 35 x 45 mm photo on a plain light blue, white or light grey background, use it; the portal asks for one print and names no lab or studio.
