Mozambique Passport Photo (SENAMI: one 'fotografia tipo passe'; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements

The Mozambique Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not published; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Serviço Nacional de Migração (SENAMI), Ministério do Interior, Moçambique - 'Passaporte Biométrico - Requisitos' sheet linked from 'REQUISITOS PARA DOCUMENTOS', with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.

For the single 'Fotografia tipo passe' (passport-type photograph) the Serviço Nacional de Migração lists among the requirements for a Mozambican biometric passport (passaporte biométrico), with the Bilhete de Identidade and the completed form, filed at a SENAMI office; under-18s add a notarised parental declaration. The sheet gives no size, background or head rule, so the frame here is the ICAO reference. Not for the Mozambican eVisa or eTA, which takes an uploaded frontal photo (separate page here), nor for the Bilhete de Identidade.

What trips people up

  • Check
The requirements sheet is four lines: 'a) Nacionalidade moçambicana b) Bilhete de Identidade c) Fotografia tipo passe d) Impresso próprio devidamente preenchido' - one passport-type photograph, no size, background, head rule or age limit, so the 35 x 45 mm frame, white background and 70-80 per cent head band here are the ICAO reference, not Mozambican figures.
  • Check
Minors: 'Tratando-se de menor de 18 anos, para além dos requisitos acima o requerente deverá juntar ao pedido uma declaração por escrito com a assinatura reconhecida pelo notário, de quem, nos termos legais, exerce poder parental.' - a notarised written declaration from whoever holds parental authority.
  • Check
Validity and fees on the sheet: 'Validade: O Passaporte é válido por cinco (5) anos.'; '1 Expresso 7.200,00 24 horas 2 Urgente 2.775,00 07 dias 3 Normal 2.400,00 15 Dias' (meticais, waiting time).
  • Check
Dated source: senami.gov.mz did not resolve when we checked, so the page and PDF were read from 2021 archive copies (a 2025 capture of the page still linked the same PDF). Confirm the current fee and whether your SENAMI office now captures the image at the counter before paying for prints.
  • Check
ICAO reference frame: 'Submitted portraits should be 45.0 mm x 35.0 mm (1.77 in x 1.38 in) in dimension.' with the head 70 to 80 per cent of the height and a plain light background.
