Niger Passport Photo (three recent ID photos on the consular list; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference): size and requirements

The Niger Passport Photo size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 x 1.77 inches). Not published; white is our rendering choice for the reference frame; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Photo taken within the last 6 months. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Ministère des Affaires Etrangères, de la Coopération, de l'Intégration Africaine et des Nigériens à l'Extérieur, Niger - 'Démarches administratives' (documents de voyage at the missions), with the ICAO Doc 9303 Part 3 reference frame.

For a Nigerien passport (passeport nigérien) applied for through an embassy or consulate of Niger, whose document list on the foreign ministry's site asks for '3 photos d'identité récentes' (two for an extension) with no size, background or head rule - so the frame, head band and background here are the ICAO Doc 9303 reference. Domestic applications inside Niger have no readable list on any Interior Ministry page. Not for a Nigerien visa (4 x 4 cm, separate page here).

What trips people up

  • Check
Count only: the consular 'Passeport (prorogation)' file is a copy of the consular card, birth certificate, nationality certificate and national ID card, '3 photos d'identité récentes;' and chancellery fees; the separate 'Prorogation de passeport' file (extension of an existing passport) wants the original passport, copies of its first three pages and '2 photos d'identité;'. No size, background or head rule is published - our 35 x 45 mm frame is the ICAO reference.
  • Check
Only the missions publish a list: the foreign ministry's page is written for Nigeriens abroad ('Les Ambassades /Consulats sont les représentations de l'Etat du Niger à l'étranger.'); the Interior Ministry's sites (interieur.gouv.ne, police-nationale.interieur.gouv.ne) carry news only and no passport sheet, so an applicant inside Niger should ask the passport office whether a print is taken or the image captured.
  • Check
Related consular documents on the same page also use loose prints: the consular card '2 photos d'identité récente;', the voter card '2 photos d'identités récentes;', the laissez-passer '2 photos d'identité récentes;' (plus 'fournir 2 photos de l'enfant' for a child under 2), the parental authorisation '2 photos d'identité récentes de chaque enfant;'.
  • Check
ICAO reference frame: 'Submitted portraits should be 45.0 mm x 35.0 mm (1.77 in x 1.38 in) in dimension.' with the head 70 to 80 per cent of the height and a plain light background; 'récentes' is not defined, so we apply the ICAO six-month limit.
  • Check
Fees are 'Droits de chancellerie à payer' set by each mission; no amount or processing time is published for the passport.

Good to know before you pay

Any three identical recent ID prints satisfy the published list; use ours when you want a clean ICAO-framed set printed cheaply, or when a mission specifies a size.
