Slovenia photo requirements

Slovenia photo requirements are set by Ministrstvo za notranje zadeve in javno upravo via the upravne enote (administrative units), e-fotograf register (gov.si). We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 ID card. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in). Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Slovenian Passport Photo (e-fotograf reference number only; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For a Slovenian passport (potni list) applied for at an administrative unit (upravna enota) in Slovenia or at a Slovenian mission abroad, by Slovenian citizens of any age. Since 2 April 2026 the photo is a digital file captured by a registered e-fotograf and identified by a reference number; a paper print is taken only by exception. ID cards

Slovenian ID Card (osebna izkaznica) Photo (e-fotograf reference number only; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For a Slovenian identity card (osebna izkaznica) applied for at an administrative unit in Slovenia, by Slovenian citizens of any age including children. Since 2 April 2026 the photo is a digital file captured by a registered e-fotograf and identified by a reference number, exactly as for the passport; a paper print is taken only by exception.
