What trips people up

  • Check
Spain uses a small 32 x 26 mm print (height 32, width 26), not the 35 x 45 mm Schengen size; our print sheet renders it.
  • Check
The background must be uniform, white and plain; the light grey or blue used for French or German photos is wrong here.
  • Check
No dark-lensed glasses or any garment that could hinder identification. The passport page says nothing more on head coverings; the DNI page of the same offices admits them for religious or medical reasons if the face oval is fully visible from the hairline to the chin.
  • Check
The photo must be high resolution on good-quality photo paper (de alta resolución y en papel fotográfico de buena calidad), so have it printed at a lab.
  • Check
The DNI page says offices with a Módulo de Expedición Múltiple may photograph you directly even if you bring a print; the same documentation units issue passports.

Good to know before you pay

If you obtain or renew your DNI the same day, no passport photo is needed (No será necesaria la aportación de fotografía cuando haya obtenido o renovado el mismo día el DNI).
