Spain photo requirements

Spain photo requirements are set by Dirección General de la Policía (Ministerio del Interior). We publish 3 documents: 1 passport, 1 ID card and 1 driving licence. The most common print size is 26 x 32 mm (1.02 in x 1.26 in). Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-07).

Passports

ID cards

Driving licences

Spanish Driving Licence Photo (permiso de conducir, 32 x 26 mm)For the original 32 x 26 mm photo the DGT lists for a driving licence renewal in the cases where it still asks for one: renewing from abroad through a consulate, or renewing a licence for agricultural or reduced-mobility vehicles (LVA, LCM) at a DGT office.
