Turkmenistan Passport Photo (State Migration Service: one 3 x 4 cm print): size and requirements
The Turkmenistan Passport Photo size is 30 x 40 mm (1.18 x 1.57 inches). Not published; white is our rendering choice; head 70 to 80 percent of the photo height. Last verified 2026-10-10 against Türkmenistanyň Döwlet migrasiýa gullugy (State Migration Service of Turkmenistan), 'The list of documents required for obtaining a passport with biometric data of a citizen of Turkmenistan'.
For the single printed photograph listed by the State Migration Service for a biometric passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan - children under 16, citizens aged 16-18 and adults over 18 all hand in 'One 3x4 photo' with the birth certificate, the citizen's passport and the other papers on the list. The service publishes the size and count only, so the head band and background here are defaults. Not for a Turkmen visa, the internal passport or a driving licence.

What trips people up
- CheckSize and count: 'One 3x4 photo' (Russian 'Фотография 3x4 - 1 шт.', Turkmen '1 sany 3x4 ölçegde surat') for every age group - 3 x 4 cm, one print, not the 35 x 45 mm most countries use. No background, head size, expression or age limit is published; the ICAO defaults here are flagged as ours.
- CheckLists by age. Under 16: photo, birth certificate, certificate of permanent residence, the parents' marriage or divorce certificate, any foreign passport of the child or parents, and the parents' Turkmen passports. 16-18: photo, birth certificate, the citizen's passport (or residence certificate if de-registered), any foreign passport, and one parent's passport. Over 18: photo, birth certificate, citizen's passport, 'Military ID (up to age 65)', proof of marital status, any foreign passport.
- Check'Note : Minors and persons recognized as legally incompetent must be present when their written applications are submitted and when their passports are issued.' - the list is registered with the Ministry of Justice.
- CheckFee and timing from the service page: state duty 'Pasport resmileşdirmek üçin döwlet pajy 60 manat.' (children under 16 and all disabled persons exempt); 'Biometriki maglumatly pasport arzanyň berlen gününden başlap bir aýyň dowamynda resmileşdirilýär.' - issued within one month of the application; the passport is valid for up to five years.
- CheckApplications are taken Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00 and Saturday 09:00-13:00 at the service's passport points; an electronic pre-application exists at eapp.migration.gov.tm. Passports are exchanged on expiry, data change, errors, damage, full visa pages, or when fingerprints or facial appearance change.
- CheckThe migration.gov.tm page itself renders only 'Loading...' without JavaScript; the list was read from the site's JSON API, which returns all three languages. Re-check the live page in a browser before you go.
