For the Ukrainian internal passport in card form (паспорт громадянина України у формі ID-картки), issued from age 14 and on exchange of the 1994 booklet, whose face image the State Migration Service captures at the office. Only persons who cannot attend for health reasons or are in detention hand in a 10 x 15 cm print for scanning. Not for the foreign-travel passport (ua/passport) or a visa.

What trips people up
- CheckYou bring no photo: the ID card is applied for at 14 or on exchange, and the appointment includes 'фотографування, сканування відбитків пальців тощо'. The document list names a print only for people who cannot come: 'одну фотокартку розміром 10 х 15 сантиметрів для внесення відцифрованого образу обличчя особи шляхом сканування із застосуванням засобів Єдиного державного демографічного реєстру'.
- CheckThat exception is a 10 x 15 cm print, not a passport photo, and applies to persons with a long-term health condition confirmed by a medical certificate or persons serving a sentence; everyone else is photographed at the counter.
- CheckFirst-time applicants over 18 must show another document with a photo: 'документ, виданий відповідним органом, установою, організацією, який містить фотозображення особи'; otherwise an identification procedure with witnesses follows.
- CheckThe old 1994 booklet is exchanged for the card when its holder failed to paste new photos at 25 or 45 within a month ('якщо особа досягла 25- чи 45-річного віку та не звернулася ... для вклеювання до паспорта зразка 1994 року нових фотокарток').

The crown-to-chin portion of the facial image shall be 70 to 80 per cent of the longest dimension defined for Zone V, maintaining the aspect ratio between the crown-to-chin and ear-to-ear details of the face of the holder.
