NIS Passport Application Portal (Nigeria): known issues
NIS Passport Application Portal (Nigeria) is the portal in Nigeria used for Nigerian Passport Photo. We list 2 messages it shows when a photo upload fails, why each appears and what to change before uploading again, each traced to the portal's own wording or a verified user report. The portal and its staff make the final decision on every photo.
Official page: https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/
Messages and what to do
- Photo refused before upload (2 MB limit)
First step: Export a JPEG under 2 MB; our 900 x 1200 pixel file is well inside the limit.
- Crop box cuts the photo and re-encodes it
First step: Upload the uncropped 3:4 file and let the portal crop, or crop to exactly 3:4 first so nothing is lost.

We are an independent service, not a government website. Applying for a passport or visa is done with your government; we only prepare the photo.
