Uganda photo requirements

Uganda photo requirements are set by Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), Ministry of Internal Affairs (immigration.go.ug, passports.go.ug). We publish 2 documents: 1 passport and 1 visa. The most common print size is 35 x 45 mm (1.38 in x 1.77 in); 1 document accepts a digital upload. Each page quotes the official rule for size, head height, background and file, links the source we read, and shows the date we last checked it (most recently 2026-10-10).

Passports

Uganda Passport Photo (image captured at the passport centre; ICAO 35 x 45 mm reference)For an ordinary Ugandan e-passport applied for on the DCIC Passport Portal (passports.go.ug), as a reference only: the Directorate's document lists for adults and minors name no photograph and the last step sends you to the selected passport centre 'for enrollment', so we read that the centre captures your image; the frame and head band here are the ICAO Doc 9303 defaults. Visas

Uganda Visa Photo (e-Immigration portal upload: recent passport-size photograph)For the 'Recent Passport-size Photograph' attached to a Ugandan visa application on the DCIC e-Immigration portal (visas.immigration.go.ug) - single-entry tourist, business, student and family-visit categories, USD 50 - before biometric capture at the border or immigration office. The Directorate publishes no size, background or file rule, so the frame and head band here are the ICAO reference.
